Infographic Solution to terminal sterilization of nanoemulsion adjuvants by combining high shear processing & filtration

Nanoemulsions offer a number of benefits as drug delivery systems. Biodegradable oil-in-water emulsions have emerged as promising novel vaccine adjuvants because they greatly improve tolerability and also demonstrated enhanced immune response without the addition of immune stimulator.

Most adjuvanted vaccines are administered through injections so sterilization is a critical step. For systems with heat-labile substances, terminal sterilization with heat is not always an option and sterile filtration is employed. Validation of sterile filtration requires a robust solution with combined process development and filtration technology.

Here, we demonstrated the production and successful sterile filtration of a nanoemulsion based adjuvant.
